The judge who ordered the seizure of the house and jaguar of former PJ inspector, rated a trail of debts, in a action of anticipation of the eventual sentence of compensation to Madeleine´s parents. The assets of Gonçalo Amaral was already precarious before the decision of the Civil Court of Lisbon, who last October ordered the arrest of the proceeds from the rights of copyright related with the sales of the book “Maddie – the truth of lie”.

Until May 19, 2008, hung over Gonçalo Amaral, two measures of attachment, an attachment of seize and tax / debts, which together amounted to 468, 4 thousand euros. According with a certificate signed by the 3rd Land Registry of Lisbon, with the date of 21st September of 2009, which 24horas had access – the former PJ inspector was noticed in those three actions by A.S. Amaral, by the National Treasury and also from the Bank of Espírito Santo.

The first of those three actions, a seizure of the order of 129, 6 thousand euros, was brought at February 9th of 2005, referring to a “fact” verified in December 16th previous year. A.S. Amaral, and the applicant of the action was at the time, resident in a 3rd floor of Quinta da Mata, in Corroios (Seixal). 24horas could not locate him.

At September 14th of 2006, new “nightmare to Gonçalo Amaral with the National Treasury to move forward with seize action of 16.996 euros.

The day of May 19th of 2008 was a date of an even worst news. An action – another one – the seize by the Bank Espírito Santo (which belongs to BIC) against Gonçalo Amaral reaches the sum of 294.405 euros, plus with other 14,7 thousand as payment of expenses of the executive process, judged and ordered by a judge of Olhão´s Court.

The Civil Court of Lisbon understood, once evaluated the financial situation of Gonçalo Amaral, that if he becomes to be condemned as a result of the application of indemnization requested by Madeleine´s parents, does not offer guarantees of match it´s payment. It´s from that assessment that comes the decision of… arrest the house, the jaguar, the share of Amaral in the company Gonçalo Amaral Unipessoal Lda, and a third part of his salary as manager of the firm.

House arrested:

Amaral and his wife, Alexandra, had bought a house with 240 square metres on a land with a total area of 1145 square metres at Urbanização Cerro Azul, in Quelfes, Olhão – with 2 floors, 2 terraces, a pool and a garage – at October 25 of 2002. The house was registered only in Alexandra´s name, but, the registration communion marriage of acquired in which the married, dictated their arrest due to actions taxes against her husband. The couple payed for the house 204, 3 thousand euros, form which they move forward with a voluntary mortgage, as a loan title, hired in that same day and near BIC, with the total value of 292,9 thousand euros. At october 31st of 2003, the demand another loan at the same bank, with the top value of 64, 5 thousand euros.

Retirement pension also under “pillage”:

That same house would be the target of a seize of 129,9 thousand euros demanded by A.S. Amaral in 2005 and would work with the same purpose on the next seize, the one at 2006, as a guarantee of payment of 16.996 euros to the National Treasury. But, there is more. Retired since June 2008, Gonçalo Amaral receives a pension by early retirement – after 26 years of service – of 2039 euros, but the Retirement Administration Office forces him to discount a sixth part of that value every month, until the value of that debt reaches the 10.505 euros. The former inspector payed five of those benefits until the beginning of October. He has yet 26 to pay. And yet… a certificate of debts of October 16th of 2009 at Financial Service from Olhão which proves that Amaral owes to the Tax payer office a total of 13.426.7 euros. The debts (of 2006, 2007, 2009) has origin in fines, IRS, stamp duty and transfer tax. In a statement released in October 21, Amaral told that he feared to “be prevented of defending his reasons in court” due to the “higher costs of money” by the judicial action requested by the couple McCann. 24horas tried to get in touch with Amaral and his wife to clarify this situation. None of them answered the phone. Also none of them answered the written messages sent by 24horas.

80 thousand for tv interview:

At the end of april 2009, a correspondent of Five News requested an interview to Amaral. According to information gathered by 24horas, the British journalist received Amaral´s answer, but the interview, if granted, would have to be payed. Amaral issued that he would charge 80 thousand euros, also the same with other broadcasts including Portuguese tv channel TVI.

I can’t begin to imagine how a man runs up nearly a half a million pounds in debt during a career as a policeman. Especially one who celebrated his recent birthday with a public fireworks display, in the company of the Mayor.

I can’t imagine why he bought his Faustian Jag when he has his own personal entourage of debt collectors and tax collectors following his every move.

I can see a little more clearly now why this man needed to write a book which ensures a missing child is never looked for.

I can see a little more clearly now why this man is absolutely desperate that Madeleine stays missing. His financial survival and new career depend on her remaining so.

This man’s financial abyss was in place long before this case and had nothing to do with the credit crunch or the McCanns.

Why aren’t alarm bells ringing in Portimao?

As a Trustee of Parents Aid South East Essex a registered charity I would like to take this opportunity of confirming that we seem to be as Ms Smith says “another victim of this sorry mess”. Until this blog was drawn to our attention we did not know that Mr Bennett had used our name. As far as we can establish we are the only charity still in existence with this name and any previous charities with whom this gentleman may have been connected are no longer in existence. He certainly has no connection with us. I can confirm that we have no connection with this booklet or currently any imprints of our own which would require an ISBN number. We will shortly be placing on our website a statement to this effect

As the Sun and the Sunday People allude to possible financial discrepancies surrounding the malefic Madeleine ‘Foundation’, the main players in this bizarre drama are accusing one another of various acts of fraud and betrayal that make Bernard Madoff look like a saint.

A comment here reminded me of an aspect of leaflet-gate that has always puzzled and worried me: The ISBN number of Bennett’s 60 Reasons gives us the following details:

Who are Parents’ Aid?

‘Parents’ Aid is a voluntary organisation and registered charity (no. 1018739), founded in November 1989, which exists to support families who are receiving or who may require assistance from the Social Services Department, or who through any conjunction of circumstances may be at risk of social exclusion.’

Notice that Parents’ Aid are a REGISTERED CHARITY.

Why on earth is a registered charity based in Essex listed as publishing a leaflet that attacks the parent’s of a missing child? Surely charities have legal obligations and rules that would prevent such a practice? If anyone can explain it to me I would be really grateful. Especially since Bennett’s former best buddy ‘Stevo’ has stated;

Apparently Tony’s friend was the printer of the books. That alone was hardly an arm’s length transaction was it? You can’t run non-profits like this. You have to be seen to always do the right thing. By doing things like Tony did, he has left himself wide open to increased scrutiny – all unnecessary so. And given his history of ethics violations with the Solicitor’s Regulatory Body, why on earth is he sending out blank cheques “just in case” In case of what?’

It’s a puzzle indeed. An Essex based registered charity seemingly acting as the publisher of Bennett’s leaflet and his friend the printer giving him a special price no doubt. I wonder if the Charity Commission are aware that one of their charities seems to have branched out into the world of publishing fiction?

Cops are investigating the finances of a smear group that claims missing Madeleine McCann is dead.

Detectives are probing claims the boss of the Madeleine Foundation pocketed up to £90,000 of donations from people who thought they were helping the official Find Madeleine Fund.

Retired solicitor Tony Bennett, 62, runs the group from his home in Harlow, Essex.

And much of the cash under investigation comes from sales of a book he wrote blaming Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry for the three year-old’s disappearance. All his group’s accounts have now been frozen.

Controversial lawyer Tony Bennett helped set up the Madeleine Foundation, but its account is now frozen.

A source close to Gerry and Kate McCann said: “This foundation is now in meltdown. They can’t wait to see the end of it.”

Which is why I suspect, this group of misfits chose to use the name of a missing child for their Fisher Price ‘Foundation’. How many unwitting people gave money to this group, which has made the McCann’s life a living hell, thinking they were giving to the McCann’s fund? A glance at their website with Madeleine’s image all over it; with Madeleine’s name in the title of the ‘foundation’ may have been enough to fool casual charitable observers into donating funds.

Anyone who followed the Sophie Atay appeal will have seen a perfect demonstration of how generous people really are. Imagine if that money was in fact being used to fund a hate campaign against her mother; to print leaflets sent to MPs; to fund meetings where new ways to make her parent’s life hell were discussed; to leaflet her family and neighbours; to fund websites where threats to her life were made and applauded.

How many people gave to this foundation believing it was the real fund for Madeleine, and inadvertently funded the harassment of her parents, and worse, the campaign to stop Madeleine being looked for?

It’s a crying shame we no longer have stocks and pillories.

On a unusually cold day in early September, I stood alongside hundreds of others outside York Minster as we payed our respects to 23 year old Matthew Hatton; the first York soldier to be killed in Afghanistan.

For a full hour the huge, impromptu congregation stood in absolute silence waiting for the cortege. The bells of the Minster rang for a full 15 minutes before the service began and with each ring I felt more and more ashamed of what is being allowed to happen to these soldiers and their families.

The silence of the crowd that afternoon was only broken when the six pallbearers lined up behind the hearse. There were audible gasps of disbelief at the age of the soldiers. One woman cried out ‘They’re only babies’. My shame doubled.

When Matthew’s family arrived the shame nearly overwhelmed me. Their loss and grief was palpable. I wanted to close my eyes to their pain, but I had no right to do that.

I have friends in the army; men I knew as children. My Father-in-law was a Regimental Sergeant Major and saw active service in India, the Far East and Africa. His memories of war are the stuff of nightmares.

Soldiers are taught to kill the enemy. Asking a soldier to ‘change hearts and minds’ in a country we have invaded is like tying his hands behind his back. He’s no longer a soldier; he’s simply a sitting target.

The murder of five more soldiers by a man they were supposedly training to be a policeman illustrates the point even further. At what point will our leaders, sat safe and sound in their Whitehall offices, accept that the ‘task’ they have assigned our soldiers is not a task for soldiers.

How long more will be all sit back silent and apathetic whilst these men and women are asked to sacrifice their lives for a country that the PM this morning described as corruption personified? How many more families will be ripped asunder by the death of the most precious part of their lives?

Matthew’s mother’s face, on that bitterly cold September day, is burned onto my retina. As Remembrance Sunday approaches, simply wearing a poppy and being silent for a few minutes is no longer enough. Being silent is no longer an option.

The Civil Court of Lisbon, this week ordered the arrest of copyright in the book of Gonçalo Amaral on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, as well as the documentary that followed, believes that the member company created by the former coordinator of the PJ may allow make and take away the proceeds to him personally for the sale of books and videos.
Therefore, following the claim from the McCann family, decided through a trial process, apprehend also share in the company Amaral, a third of his salary as a manager and even the Jaguar that former police leads – but it belongs the firm.

The car, with a displacement of 2700cc and a price of around 70 thousand euros new, was purchased in May and registered in the name of the company Gonçalo Amaral Unipessoal Ltd., with a capital of 5000 euros. The company, established in November last year, provides consulting, research and analysis in the field of criminal investigation and specializes in the dissemination, promotion and communication of technical work.

Notifications to the publishers who published the book “Maddie – The truth of lies” followed earlier this week to several European countries: Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Spain and France. The publisher War & Peace (which published the book in Portugal), the Presslivre (owner of the Correio da Manha where Amaral is a weekly columnist), the Valentim de Carvalho and TVI were also notified of the seizure of copyright that are due to the former coordinator of the PJ until a final decision in the ongoing process.

Contacted by Express, Gonçalo Amaral declined to make any comment on the decision of the Civil Court, referring to its
position to a press release issued on Wednesday. In this document, the man who investigated the disappearance of Madeleine McCann fears “is unable to defend their reasons in court and admits to” constraints on its own defense. “

Kate and Gerry McCann, were made defendants in the course of the investigation, and three children, Sean and Amelie and Madeleine, are the applicants of the ongoing process in civil court. Require the former PJ inspector compensation of 1.2 million for defamation due to statements “continued and blatant” about the investigation of the case of 2007.

Gonçalo Amaral retired from the Judicial Police in June last year after 26 years of service. At the time, said he went to have “full freedom of expression,” after being away, months before the investigation of the disappearance of British child because of statements made to the media. So it seems that reinforced, golden, diamond encrusted pedestal that Amaral’s fan club placed him upon was in fact made of nothing but crumbling plaster of paris with huge pockets of hot air.

This man was in dire financial trouble before this poor child ever came to Portugal. Debts and policeman don’t go well together. They make a man vulnerable to bribery and blackmail. Huge debts even more so. It’s as simple as that.

The news that the publishers of Amaral’s book are also the owners of Correio da Manha; the newspaper which has made persecuting the McCanns it’s reason d’etre, should come as no surprise. It seems the devil was having a 2 for the price of 1 sale in Portugal on the day Madeleine went missing.

It’s not often you get a chance to change someone’s life with so little effort.

From extensive research we have learned that Sophie stands an amazing 80% chance of survival with a treatment called 3F8 immunotherapy. This ideally should be given after Sophie finishes her high dose chemotherapy (around October/November 2009). UNFORTUNATELY this treatment is not available in the UK or Europe. The only place in the world it is given is a Hospital called the Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Not only that, but the price for this specific treatment can cost up to $800,000. Of course we do not have this kind of money. This is one of the main reasons I have this appeal going. To raise as much money as we can in the dream that Sophie can receive this treatment.
