Held to Ransom

The convicted paedophile who was recently linked to the case of missing British girl Madeleine McCann has for the first time admitted: “Yes, I saw Maddie!”

It is yet another twist in the search for the youngster, who vanished from the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz in 2007 at the age of three.

Brit Raymond Hewlett, who now lives in Aachen, Germany, is a convicted paedophile wanted for questioning over unrelated crimes in the UK.

He has always denied having anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance, although he is now considered a suspect.

And yesterday he admitted for the first time: “Yes, I saw Maddie.”

Will this revelation finally help solve the long-running case?

Raymond H. was also on holiday with his wife and their six children in the vicinity of Praia da Luz when Madeleine went missing.

The former soldier, who is ill with cancer in a hospital in Aachen, was found guilty of abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl in 1972 and has been on the run since being released from jail after serving a six year sentence for a sex attack on a 14-year-old girl in 1988.

And now BILD has discovered that Raymond H. admitted to seeing Maddie twice, and even remembers a distinctive mark by her right eye.

Four policemen escorted the paedophile out of the area yesterday so that so British detectives could question him over several assaults on children. They also took a DNA sample from him.

But Raymond H. is very weak and doctors believe he has only a few weeks left, according to his lawyer Thomas Dahmen.

Will he want to confess to anything before his death? What does he really know about Maddie’s disappearance?

Time may be running out to solve the case…(Taken from Bild )

This admission from a certain forum’s new poster boy follows on from alleged reports that the convicted paedophile has asked the Mccanns for money in return for his ’story’.

For the Mccann’s stalkers, the Fund is the parent’s personal bank account: When they have followed Kate Mccann to Marks and Spencer, and watched her from behind the racks of bras and knickers, they really do believe that Kate pays with a debit card that links directly to the fund.

With each story that appears about Mr Hewlett it becomes more and more apparent that he is very familiar with the ideas and theories of these stalkers. His belief that the Mccanns should pay him from the fund in return for his talking to their private investigators is fully in keeping with being a member of the forum that these stalkers infest.

Mr Hewlett’s latest admission that he was in PDL and saw Madeleine twice, and close enough to see her eye defect, is possibly a cynical attempt to emotionally blackmail money from the Mccanns. Why else would a convicted paedophile admit to being near an abducted child, even if he is dying? Mr Hewlett it seems is another in a long line of low- lifes trying to make money from this missing child, and he comes close to being the very worst of them. (And there’s strong competition believe me)

We are led to believe that the Portuguese police cleared  upstanding citizen Mr Hewlett as he had his default paedophile alibi ready and waiting – he was with a 15 year old girl. But if  Hewlett’s new ‘confession’ is correct it seems the PJ were fooled by a paedophile and a teenager. Given that, is it not time that the UK police took over this investigation of a missing British child? Especially as the Portuguese police are telling potential witnesses to ‘go away, she’s dead’

This case has highlighted a new form of human, one that seems to have ‘devolved’ rather than evolved like the rest of us. The internet, this case, and a form of social insanity that we are witnessing at the moment, seems to have brought them scuttling out into daylight, like cockroaches. Suddenly we are aware of their existence because of their appalling actions.

The ‘creatures’ that tortured and murdered the two French students are prime examples of the devolved, sadistic, soul-less entities that we have breathing the same air. They are easy to identify. Containing them and protecting normal, decent people is the hard part. The laws and sentencing guidleines we have had up till now are no longer adequate in deterring them or protecting society. We need a new way of dealing with them.

I agree and its very sad and quite frightening that this kind share our Planet……….
As for that slimey disgusting pervert Hewitt……I’d like to be his “Nurse” for a few days……..Money grabbing evil sh#t !!

    • katiesmith Says:

      Nurse :)

The trouble is Cat that he could know something, there is that ‘what if’. He seems to have been in or near PDL at the right time. The parents are caught between a rock and a hard place. This is why I think the UK goverment should now be actively involved, for Madeleine’s sake.

      • Catkins Says:

I agree with that Katie……and when I say Nurse him…..I would of course encourage him to speak first . Leaning on his morphine drip and causing a blockage might help !

    Exactly my own thought, Kate.

All scruples aside, if Hewlett has information of value and the PJ won’t investigate because they’ve shelved the case, then however galling, surely the only option is meet Hewlett’s price and get the information.

If he is the only person on the planet with the key to unlocking the mystery of what happened to Madeleine and he takes his secret to the grave, then well …

And if he is simply on the make and takes the money in return for nothing, what’s left except impotent rage?

All I’m sure of is that I’m relieved the decision isn’t mine.

    • katiesmith Says:

We all share that relief Nick. :(

The other problem is they could open the floodgates to copycats if they pay him for information. I would agree though, paying him seems to be the only option. :(

I’m trying to contain my rage about this situation arising because of the bizarre way the Portuguese justice system works, or not, as the case may be. :)

If the British police were in charge Hewlett wouldn’t be playing Russian Roulette with a child’s life for his own benefit; he would be answering questions at the nearest station.

  3. He says he wants money for his children if he dies, so what if they don’t pay him money up front but tell him that if he gives information with leads to finding Madeleine his children will be taken care of after his death. I dont like it, but it does seem better than paying him the £££££ he is asking for. Problem is would he agree, there is apparently so little time to get any information out of him and he will be protected because of his ill health.

  4. “Held to Ransom” is a very appropriate title, it’s sort of a theme at the moment. I am sort of hoping a newspaper will do the dirty work and see what they can get out of him. Also feasible is paying him on results – if he can give concrete, provable evidence of what happened to Madeleine then money will be made available accordingly, particularly to his children who are perfectly appropriate recipients for any dosh that might usefully be spent. But no way money for an interview just for the privilege of talking to the git. Must be on results as there is every danger that someone has made a significant offer to him to put a final spanner in the works of the investigation before he dies.

Yes we need our government to step in and create some noise on Madeleine’s behalf – this has reached the point where they can break through and forget being held to ransom by all this nonsense from Portugal about interference. Our UK Passports say “Her Britannic Majesty’s Secretary of State requests and requires in the Name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.”

    Requests and Requires.

Madeleine is a UK passport holder. I think it is perfectly reasonable that the government and Foreign Office should have been circumspect about offending Portuguese sensibilities but I really think it has passed that point now. David Milliband is Foreign Secretary, Lord Malloch-Brown is Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Glenys Kinnock has just been appointed Minister for Europe replacing Caroline Flint. I think it might be just great if all three of those were made aware of people’s concerns and also support for any move to intervene, speak on Madeleine’s behalf and maybe take some risks with relations with Portugal, do some active requesting and requiring and not be silenced by nationalist hysteria being generated there.

  5. IMO, this is about control. Hewlett is making the detectives, the police and the McCanns ‘dance to his piper’. Money plays a part, possibly an equal part, but control is the issue.

There have been reports that he controlled his ‘wife’ and family. He has abused young children, and in doing so they were completely under his control. Control is the key.

He may know nothing about Madeleine at all, or he may know what happened to her. It is his desire for control which must be used to find out what he knows. If this means making some payment upfront, with more to follow for the upkeep of his children, then so be it.

But i stress that the way to get the truth from his is to use his desire for control against him. The Mccann’s detectives are experienced, they will know how to deal with this sort, they would have seen his sort many times.

  6. rosemary Says:

You have raised 2 issues Katie. That of the stalkers and that of Hewlett. “Sadistic soul less beings no better than cockroaches……” I agree. I cannot help comparing the near complete collapse of Susan Boyle through a vicious attack upon this helpless and vulnerable woman by a small number of sadistic members of our publicity crazed population, with the near destruction of Kate and Gerry McCann by a similar tribe. They destroy simply because they can as someone said recently. It is within their power. And as Dianeh says above, it is about control. It is a depressing thought that the human race appears not to have progressed beyond the gladiatorial lusts of Ancient Rome. All in the name of entertainment.
Hewlett should have been put away years ago. How he has managed to slip through the net is mind boggling and shameful. As to what kind of pathetic piece of humanity he is, well he will be leaving us soon enough so it no longer matters does it? We should not be too surprised by this last ditch attempt of his to feather his arid nest. It is in character. He is unchanged by the prospect of his approaching demise.
Should he be paid? No, of course not. Will he be paid? Yes, surely. By whom? The media of course. All in the blessed name of entertainment….

  7. Katie, this is slightly off-topic, but this has thread has come up on the pfa2 board and it’s precisely your sort of humour. I think you’d appreciate the satire.

You’d have to register but registration is free and worth the effort just for that thread alone:

What a wonderful legacy he is leaving for his children, I wonder if he ever thinks about that?
